Who it's for:

All healthcare professionals who care for individuals with type 2 diabetes who require insulin.

Why it's needed:

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes in Australia (85–90%) and its incidence is increasing worldwide, with more and more younger people now becoming affected. Whilst some of the management of this chronic disease may be initially possible through changes to lifestyle, treatment with medication is usually required.

Healthcare professionals need to remain up-to-date regarding the types of medications prescribed for this disease, as these types of medications are constantly changing. Understanding how these medicines work, their side effects, and contraindications is imperative for promoting positive patient outcomes.

Purpose:

The purpose of this Ausmed Course is to provide new and update existing knowledge of diabetes management and treatment options for type 2 diabetes mellitus with medicines.
